PORSCHE
VACUUM
This project was an exploration in translating the iconic design language of the Porsche 911 into a category far outside the automotive world: a high-performance vacuum cleaner. Developed as a concept for Porsche Design, the goal was to create a product that embodied the essence of the 911—precision engineering, aerodynamic form, and a legacy of speed and sophistication—within the context of a home appliance.
As an industrial designer, I reimagined traditional vacuum cleaner proportions through the lens of automotive design, incorporating the fluid silhouette, stance, and surfacing cues of the Porsche 911. The form factor emphasized sleekness and motion, even at rest, while maintaining functional requirements like airflow, motor housing, and usability.
Brand identity played a critical role throughout the process. Material finishes, color palettes, and detailing were drawn directly from Porsche’s interiors and exteriors—brushed metals, leather-like textures, and high-gloss piano black accents. Every design decision was made with the Porsche brand values in mind: performance, luxury, and legacy.
The project also pushed the boundaries of what a vacuum cleaner could feel like. Intuitive controls and haptics were designed to mirror the tactility of a 911 dashboard, while digital feedback and charging elements reflected the refined minimalism of the Porsche user experience.
This concept is a bold statement on brand extension—demonstrating how industrial design can translate the DNA of an iconic automotive brand into an entirely new product category while maintaining design integrity and emotional resonance.
